Frequently asked questions
Nuvo Longevity is an iPhone and Apple Watch app that calculates a daily biological age score from 21 biomarkers (Apple Health wearables plus optional blood labs), with on-device AI coaching and no account required.
What is Nuvo?
Nuvo Longevity is an iPhone and Apple Watch app that calculates a daily biological age score from 21 biomarkers (Apple Health wearables plus optional blood labs), with on-device AI coaching and no account required. It then gives you a personalized plan to lower that score over time.
What is the best biological age app for iPhone?
If you want a daily biological age on iPhone from 21 biomarkers (Apple Watch, Oura, or Garmin via HealthKit plus optional blood labs), on-device AI coaching, and no account, that is Nuvo Longevity at $24.99/year after a 7-day trial. SuperAge is a fair alternative if you specifically want PhenoAge/KDM from a lab PDF at $49.99/year. InsideTracker and Function Health are lab memberships, not daily iPhone coach apps.
What is a longevity coach app?
A longevity coach app turns your health data into a plan you can follow. Nuvo Intelligence is Nuvo's on-device AI coach: it reads your 21-biomarker profile and suggests recovery interventions (sauna, cold plunge, breathwork, meditation, red light, massage) plus nutrition and supplement protocols for out-of-range markers. It is not a human coach and not a chat-only wellness bot.
Does Nuvo require an account?
No. Nuvo does not require an account. Your data stays on your iPhone, is never sold, and is not sent to Nuvo servers.
What do I need to use Nuvo?
An iPhone running iOS 18 or later, plus a supported wearable — Apple Watch (Series 4 or newer), Garmin, or Oura Ring — so Nuvo can read fitness biomarkers like sleep, heart rate, steps, and workouts automatically. Blood test results are optional but greatly improve accuracy.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Nuvo also supports Garmin and Oura Ring, and adapts every screen to what your device can actually measure. Without any wearable, Nuvo relies on whatever data your iPhone records in Apple Health, plus any blood work you add.
How long until I see my biological age?
You'll see a first estimate right away once Nuvo reads your Apple Health data. The number becomes more reliable as Nuvo calibrates over the following days and weeks — your confidence level in the app shows how solid the estimate is.
Wearables: Apple Watch, Garmin & Oura
Which wearables does Nuvo support?
Apple Watch, Garmin, and Oura Ring. You pick your primary device during onboarding, and you can change it any time in Settings → Primary Wearable. Nuvo adapts every screen to what your device can actually measure, so you never see a metric stuck at zero.
How does Nuvo get my Garmin or Oura data?
Through Apple Health. Both Garmin Connect and the Oura app can write your sleep, heart rate, steps, and workouts into Apple Health, and Nuvo reads from there. Nuvo walks you through turning that on the first time you launch it.
Do I need an Oura membership?
For Gen3 rings and newer, yes — an active Oura membership is required for the Oura app to sync into Apple Health. Gen2 rings sync without one.
What is the Oura account link, and do I need it?
It's optional, but it makes Nuvo noticeably more accurate. The Oura app doesn't share HRV, true resting heart rate, or VO₂ max through Apple Health. Linking your Oura account pulls those three directly from Oura each day, which means your HRV tile returns, your resting heart rate loses its "EST" label, and VO₂ max updates automatically instead of you typing it in.
How do I link my Oura account?
In Nuvo, open Connect Oura in Settings and tap "Get your personal token." Sign in with your Oura login, tap "Create A New Personal Access Token," then paste it back into Nuvo and tap Link Account. It takes about a minute and there's nothing to approve or wait for.
Where is my Oura token stored?
In your iPhone's Keychain, the same secure storage Apple uses for passwords. Nuvo uses it only to request your data directly from Oura. You can unlink at any time from the Connect Oura screen.
Why does my resting heart rate say "EST"?
Neither Garmin Connect nor the Oura app publishes resting heart rate as its own value to Apple Health, so Nuvo estimates it from your lowest sustained overnight readings. It's a solid estimate — especially on Oura, which records heart rate minute by minute through the night. The label disappears for Apple Watch users, and for Oura users once the account is linked.
Why is my HRV tile missing?
Garmin and Oura don't share HRV through Apple Health, so Nuvo hides the tile rather than showing you a zero. It isn't deleted — it reappears the moment real HRV data arrives, which happens automatically if you link your Oura account or switch back to an Apple Watch.
Will my recovery score still work without HRV?
Yes. Recovery rebalances itself around the metrics your device actually provides. Oura users get sleep duration, sleep quality, respiratory rate, and resting heart rate. Garmin users get sleep duration, sleep quality, and resting heart rate. Scores stay meaningful and comparable day to day.
How do I update my VO₂ max on Garmin or Oura?
Enter it manually from the value your Garmin or Oura app already shows. Nuvo sends a gentle reminder about once a month so it doesn't go stale. Link your Oura account and this becomes fully automatic.
Which fitness biomarkers work on Garmin and Oura?
Sleep duration, sleep consistency, daily steps, heart rate zones 2–3 and 4–5, and strength time all work normally. Resting heart rate is estimated. VO₂ max is manual unless you link Oura. Lean mass % needs a smart scale connected to Apple Health, on any device.
Do habits work the same way?
Nearly all of them — workouts, walks and runs, heart rate zones, cycling, swimming, sleep, bedtime, weight, and body fat. Exercise Minutes is the exception, since it depends on Apple's exercise ring, which only an Apple Watch fills. It's hidden while Garmin or Oura is your primary device and returns instantly if you switch back. The habit list only offers activities your device can actually record, so nothing sits at zero.
Does my streak survive switching devices?
Yes. Nuvo counts any day your device captured last night's sleep and core biomarkers, whether that came from a watch on your wrist or a ring on your finger.
Does strain work with a ring?
Yes, using the all-day heart rate Oura records in one-minute intervals — same formula, bands, and alerts. It's most accurate when your workouts are recorded or confirmed in the Oura app, since that's when heart-rate sampling is densest.
Can I use more than one device?
Yes. If you wear an Apple Watch and an Oura ring, Nuvo detects the overlap and won't double-count steps, calories, or exercise minutes. Native samples always take priority over estimates.
Is there a Nuvo app for Garmin or Oura devices?
No. The Nuvo watch app and complications are Apple Watch only. Garmin and Oura users get the full experience on iPhone.
Biological Age & Accuracy
How does Nuvo calculate my biological age?
Nuvo combines two views of your body: your fitness age (from biomarkers like VO₂ Max, HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, and body composition) and your blood-based age (using validated markers from lab work, similar to published phenotypic-age research). The more data you provide, the more accurate the result.
Why did my biological age change?
Your biological age responds to real changes in your data — better sleep, improved HRV, new lab results, and so on. Fitness biomarkers use 30-day rolling averages, so day-to-day noise is smoothed out and changes reflect genuine trends.
What does the confidence level mean?
Confidence reflects how much data Nuvo has to work with. Fitness data alone gives a moderate confidence level; adding blood work raises it significantly. The confidence bar on your Age page shows exactly where you stand.
Can I really lower my biological age?
Yes — biomarkers like VO₂ Max, HRV, resting heart rate, sleep quality, and many blood markers are modifiable through training, nutrition, sleep, and supplementation. Your Plan page even shows a projection of how many years younger you could get by improving your priority biomarkers.
Blood Work & Labs
How do I add blood test results?
You can scan or upload your lab report (PDF or photo) and Nuvo reads the values automatically, or you can enter results manually. Nuvo recognizes common markers like glucose, CRP, ApoB, lipid panels, kidney and liver markers, and more.
Which blood tests should I get?
Any standard metabolic and lipid panel is a great start. The more of Nuvo's supported blood biomarkers your panel covers, the higher your confidence level. You don't need everything — Nuvo works with partial panels.
How often should I update my labs?
Most users re-test every 3–6 months. Nuvo always uses your most recent lab values, so new results update your biological age immediately.
Your Plan & Protocols
What are protocols?
Protocols are your personalized action plans — nutrition and supplement guidance built specifically from your out-of-range and borderline biomarkers. Each recommendation explains what to do and why it matters for that specific marker.
Why do my protocols change?
They're recalculated from your current data: latest labs for blood markers, 30-day averages for fitness markers. As your biomarkers improve, your priorities shift.
Is this medical advice?
No. Nuvo provides educational insights based on your data. Always consult your physician before making changes to medication, supplements, or treatment — especially if you have a medical condition.
Notifications
What notifications does Nuvo send?
Three kinds: biological age changes (only after the change is verified, so the number you see always matches), fitness biomarker changes (when a 30-day average shifts 10% or more, better or worse), and recovery/sleep detection (your recovery score is ready after a night's sleep). Each can be toggled independently in Settings.
Why haven't I received an age-change notification?
Nuvo deliberately errs on the side of accuracy. It only notifies you after a change is confirmed by multiple independent calculations, so you're never told your age changed when it didn't. Small fluctuations under 0.1 years don't trigger alerts.
Subscription & Billing
How much does Nuvo cost?
Nuvo Premium is $4.99/month or $24.99/year USD, with a 7-day trial. Billing is through your Apple ID. Cancel anytime in Settings → Subscriptions.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Nuvo. Cancelling stops future billing; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
How do I restore my subscription on a new phone?
Sign in with the same Apple ID and your subscription restores automatically. If it doesn't, use "Restore Purchases" in the app.
Privacy & Data
Where is my health data stored?
On your device, and synced privately through your personal iCloud account so your history follows you across devices. Nuvo doesn't sell your data or share it with third parties. Data is not sent to Nuvo servers.
Does Nuvo read all my Apple Health data?
Only the categories you approve during setup — fitness and body biomarkers relevant to biological age. You control permissions in the Health app at any time.
What happens if I delete the app?
Your data remains in your iCloud and Apple Health. Reinstall and your history comes back. There is no Nuvo account to delete.
