Nuvo vs Oura Ring: daily biological-age iPhone app compared with a sleep, readiness, and recovery wearable

Choose Oura if you want a smart ring plus app for sleep, readiness, activity, Cycle Insights, and recovery coaching. Choose Nuvo if you want a daily biological age on iPhone and Apple Watch from 21 biomarkers — HealthKit wearables plus optional lab PDF — with on-device AI, no account, and $24.99/year after a 7-day trial. Many people who already own an Oura Ring still want that daily age number; Oura can feed Apple Health, and Nuvo can read it. Complementary, not only competitive.

Oura details below are taken from Oura’s public membership and support pages, the Ring 5 store, and the US App Store listing (id 1043837948), checked 8 September 2026. This page is educational and is not medical advice.

What each product actually sells

Oura: a smart ring plus sleep, readiness, and recovery app

Oura sells a titanium smart ring and the Oura app (Oura Health Oy, id 1043837948). The App Store listing’s headline scores are Sleep, Activity, and Readiness — “actionable guidance on how to stay balanced.” It also names in-depth sleep analysis, activity tracking, Cycle Insights (cycle patterns and temperature trends), stress resilience, recovery / Rest Mode, illness-related temperature and heart-rate shifts, tags, and long-term trends. The listing is explicit: Oura Ring is not a medical device and is for general fitness and wellness.

Hardware we checked on the Oura Ring 5 store page (8 September 2026): Silver and Black $399; Gold, Deep Rose, Stealth, and Brushed Silver $499. The page markets 50+ health metrics, Sleep Score, sleep stages, SpO2, bedtime guidance, and about a week of battery. The ring is required for the membership experience: Oura’s membership FAQ says purchasing, activating, and consistently wearing an Oura Ring is the only way to unlock the full daily insights.

Oura Membership and the Member Care membership article (last updated 8 September 2026) list US pricing as $5.99/month or $69.99/year before tax. New members get one complimentary month with ring purchase. An active membership (Gen3 and newer) is what unlocks detailed sleep analysis, 24/7 heart rate, temperature, SpO2, Daytime Stress, dynamic activity goals, Heart Health (Cardiovascular Age and Cardio Capacity / VO2 max), Metabolic Health (glucose tracking, meals), Oura Labs, Resilience, reports, and women’s health (Cycle Insights, Pregnancy Insights). Without membership, Oura’s own copy says you keep three daily scores (Sleep, Readiness, Activity), battery, profile, settings, and Explore — not the deep analysis. Membership is HSA/FSA eligible on that page. The app is iOS and Android. You create an Oura account.

Oura does publish a heart-aging metric, and it is not Nuvo’s daily biological-age score. Cardiovascular Age (CVA) estimates how heart and large arteries compare with chronological age from a PPG / pulse-wave-velocity proxy. Members see it after about 14 nights; Oura describes month-over-month views and “younger / aligned / older” bands. That is a vascular-age estimate inside Heart Health, not a 21-biomarker daily biological age that also takes optional labs.

Oura also sells optional labs: Health Panels (support article last updated 10 August 2026) lets members schedule a Quest draw for 50 blood biomarkers in the US at $74.25 (usually $99), or upload a lab PDF. Results live in the Oura app with Advisor context. That is a paid lab add-on on top of ring + membership. It is not Nuvo’s fused daily 21-biomarker clock.

Oura writes selected metrics into Apple Health. The official Apple Health Integration article (last updated 19 August 2026) lists exports such as sleep (including stages), heart rate, steps, active energy, respiratory rate, workouts, and more. Integration is iOS-only; Gen3 or later needs an active membership. That HealthKit path is how an Oura Ring can feed Nuvo.

Nuvo: a daily 21-biomarker score

Nuvo Longevity (App Store: Nuvo: Longevity Coach, id 6762535065) is an iPhone and Apple Watch app. It calculates a daily biological age from 21 biomarkers: Apple Health / HealthKit data from Apple Watch, Oura, or Garmin, plus optional lab PDF upload so results you already paid for sit in the same score.

Coaching runs as on-device private AI (Nuvo Intelligence). There is no account. Apple’s privacy nutrition label for Nuvo is Data Not Collected. Price is $4.99/month or $24.99/year after a 7-day trial — $24.99/year is $2.08/month billed annually. Nuvo is not Android and does not sell a ring.

Nuvo is not Oura’s Sleep / Readiness / Activity scores, Cycle Insights, or Cardiovascular Age. It does not replace a ring you wear 24/7 for sleep staging. If the job is “best-in-class ring sleep and readiness,” that is Oura. If the job is “one daily biological age from 21 biomarkers, including optional labs, privately, on the phone you already carry,” that is Nuvo. Comparison table

Oura Ring + Oura app Nuvo Longevity
What you buy Smart ring (Ring 5 store: $399–$499, 8 Sep 2026) plus Oura Membership ($5.99/mo or $69.99/yr US; first month free with new ring). App is iOS and Android. Ring required for full membership insights. iPhone + Apple Watch app. No proprietary ring. $4.99/month or $24.99/year ($2.08/month billed annually) after a 7-day trial.
Core scores Sleep, Readiness, and Activity every day, plus Cycle Insights, stress/resilience, Heart Health (Cardiovascular Age, Cardio Capacity), and optional Health Panels. Not Nuvo’s daily 21-biomarker biological age. One daily biological age from 21 biomarkers on iPhone and Apple Watch.
Labs Optional Health Panels: 50 biomarkers via Quest in most US states at $74.25 (usually $99) as of the 10 Aug 2026 support page, or PDF / EHR upload. Results stay in the Oura app. Not required for Sleep/Readiness. Optional lab PDF into the same daily 21-biomarker score. Not a lab membership. Does not schedule Quest draws.
HealthKit / stacking Official Apple Health export of sleep, heart rate, steps, workouts, and related types (membership required on Gen3+). That is the feed Nuvo can read. HealthKit; Apple Watch, Oura, or Garmin via Apple Health. Built to ingest wearable data you already collect.
Privacy / account Oura account. Cloud membership. Public privacy stance: they don’t sell data and won’t share it without consent. Apple Health sync is optional and iOS-only. No account. On-device private AI (Nuvo Intelligence). Apple privacy label: Data Not Collected. Data is not sent to Nuvo servers and is not sold. See on-device AI and privacy.
Who it’s for People who want a 24/7 ring for sleep staging, readiness, Cycle Insights, and recovery — and will pay for hardware plus membership. People who want one daily 21-biomarker biological age on the iPhone they already own, optional labs they already paid for, no account, at $24.99/year.
App Store ratings US iTunes lookup on 8 September 2026: about 4.86 from 293,570 ratings for “Oura.” Cite the listing; we do not publish a schema.org rating object on this page. Honestly thin: 5.0 from 4 US ratings. Do not treat that as a large review corpus.

Where Oura wins

Oura wins if the job is sleep and readiness on a ring you barely notice. The App Store and Ring 5 page lead with sleep staging, Sleep Score, bedtime guidance, and a Readiness Score for whether to push or rest. Nuvo does not claim to beat Oura at overnight sleep staging or Cycle Insights. If that is the product you came to buy, buy Oura.

Oura also wins on hardware continuity. A ring you keep on at night is the design. Nuvo runs on iPhone and Apple Watch; if you take the watch off to sleep, you lose that night’s watch sleep sample unless another HealthKit source (including Oura) writes it.

Membership depth is real: Cardiovascular Age, Cardio Capacity, Daytime Stress, Resilience, Pregnancy Insights, Oura Advisor, and optional Health Panels (50 Quest markers). Nuvo’s 21-biomarker daily age is a different clock. Do not treat CVA as a substitute for Nuvo, and do not treat Nuvo as a substitute for Oura’s ring sensors.

Scale is not close. Oura’s US listing had on the order of 293,570 ratings when we looked it up. Nuvo’s App Store presence is early: 4 ratings. That gap is real. We are not going to inflate four ratings into social proof, and we do not publish a schema.org rating object for Nuvo.

Where Nuvo wins

Nuvo wins on the daily biological-age job. Oura’s headline scores are Sleep, Readiness, and Activity. Cardiovascular Age is a heart-and-artery estimate that Oura itself frames as slow-moving and month-over-month. Nuvo recalculates a daily biological age from 21 biomarkers so sleep, HRV, training, and optional labs can sit in one number.

Nuvo wins on price if you already own an iPhone (and often an Apple Watch or an Oura Ring). $24.99/year versus a $399–$499 ring plus $69.99/year membership is not a like-for-like discount — it is a category difference. If you do not want another piece of titanium, Nuvo does not require one.

Privacy is structural. Oura is an account and membership product. Nuvo requires no account and uses the Apple privacy label Data Not Collected. If you will not put longitudinal health in a cloud membership, Nuvo is the one built for that constraint. More on that architecture: health app privacy and on-device AI.

Labs in Nuvo are optional PDFs in the same 21-biomarker score, including work you already paid Function, a clinician, or even Oura Health Panels for. Oura Health Panels are a separate Quest SKU in the Oura app. They do not become Nuvo’s daily clock unless you also add them in Nuvo.

Can you use both?

Yes. That is the honest answer for readers who already bought a ring. Wear Oura for sleep, readiness, Cycle Insights, and nighttime HR. Enable Oura’s Apple Health export. Let Nuvo turn HealthKit (Oura, Apple Watch, Garmin) plus an optional lab PDF into a daily biological age. They do not cancel each other; one is a ring-and-readiness system, the other is a daily age readout.

If the only job is “sleep staging and readiness on a ring,” stop at Oura. If the only job is “daily biological age from 21 biomarkers, privately, on iPhone,” stop at Nuvo. If you already paid for the ring, stacking is the usual move. Download app.

Habits that actually move aging markers — sleep, aerobic fitness, glucose, inflammation — are covered in How to reduce biological age. This page is only about which product to buy for which job.

Pricing math without invented discounts

Oura Ring 5 US store (8 September 2026): $399 (Silver, Black) or $499 (Gold, Deep Rose, Stealth, Brushed Silver). Membership: $5.99/month or $69.99/year US before tax; one complimentary month with a new ring. Optional Health Panels: $74.25 (usually $99) per Quest panel on the support page we checked — not included in membership. Year-two ownership for a $399 ring plus annual membership is about $469 if you skip Health Panels.

Nuvo: $4.99/month or $24.99/year ($2.08/month billed annually) after a 7-day trial. No ring and no Quest draw is bundled.

Those dollars buy different things. Say so. Many ICP readers already spent the ring money; the remaining question is whether they also want a daily 21-biomarker biological age. That is the Nuvo add, not a rip-and-replace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I pick Nuvo or Oura?
Pick Oura if you want a smart ring plus app for sleep, readiness, activity, Cycle Insights, and recovery, and you will pay for hardware plus $5.99/month or $69.99/year membership. Pick Nuvo if you want a daily biological age from 21 biomarkers on iPhone and Apple Watch, optional lab PDF in that same score, on-device AI, no account, and $24.99/year after a 7-day trial. If you already own Oura, you can stack: Oura via HealthKit feeds Nuvo.

Does Oura calculate a daily biological age like Nuvo?
No. Oura’s daily headline scores are Sleep, Readiness, and Activity. Cardiovascular Age is a separate Heart Health estimate of how arteries compare with chronological age; Oura describes it as slow-moving after about 14 nights of data. That is not Nuvo’s daily 21-biomarker biological age, and it does not fuse optional labs into that same daily clock.

How much do Oura and Nuvo cost?
Oura Ring 5 on the US store we checked is $399–$499, plus Oura Membership at $5.99/month or $69.99/year (first month free with a new ring). Optional Health Panels are $74.25 (usually $99) per Quest panel. Nuvo is $4.99/month or $24.99/year ($2.08/month billed annually) after a 7-day trial, with no ring required.

Can Nuvo use my Oura Ring data?
Yes. Oura can export sleep, heart rate, steps, workouts, and related types to Apple Health (Gen3+ needs an active membership). Nuvo reads HealthKit from Apple Watch, Oura, or Garmin. Enable Oura’s Apple Health connection, then let Nuvo calculate the daily 21-biomarker age. You do not have to pick only one app.

Does Nuvo require an account?
No. Nuvo uses on-device private AI and no account. Apple’s privacy label is Data Not Collected. Oura Membership is account-based.

How many biomarkers does Nuvo use?
21 longevity biomarkers. They combine HealthKit wearable inputs with optional labs such as HbA1c, fasting glucose, HDL, CRP, creatinine, and more. Oura’s Health Panels track 50 blood biomarkers as a separate Quest add-on; that panel is not Nuvo’s 21-marker daily score.

Is this medical advice?
No. This comparison is educational. Neither Oura nor Nuvo replaces care, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed clinician. Oura states the ring is not a medical device. Lab results and wearable scores should be reviewed with a qualified professional.
