Nuvo vs Eight Sleep: daily biological-age iPhone app compared with a Pod mattress cover that cools and heats the bed

Choose Eight Sleep if you want a Pod mattress cover and Hub that cools and heats the bed, plus an Autopilot membership for sleep staging, temperature, and a weekly Biological Age. Choose Nuvo if you want a daily biological age on iPhone and Apple Watch from 21 biomarkers — HealthKit plus optional lab PDF — with on-device AI, no account, and $24.99/year after a 7-day trial. These are different jobs. A premium longevity buyer can own both: the Pod for the night, Nuvo for the daily age number.

Written by Nuvo Longevity editorial team at Firefly Labs LLC, the developer of Nuvo. Eight Sleep details below are taken from the US Pod 6 product page, the Autopilot page, the warranty page, Eight Sleep’s Pod 6 and Biological Age articles, and the US App Store listing (id 1086913845), checked 13 October 2026. Prices are what those public pages showed that day. This page is educational and is not medical advice.

What each product actually sells

Eight Sleep: a Pod cover that cools and heats the bed

Eight Sleep Pod 6 is a Cover plus Hub that sits on the mattress you already own. The US product page says the Cover fits any mattress, cools and heats each side from 55°F to 110°F, tracks sleep and health, and wakes you with vibration and thermal alarms. It lists a 30-night risk-free trial, free shipping, and free returns. The current generation is Pod 6. Eight Sleep’s 22 September 2026 Pod 6 article describes a smaller Hub, a 550-watt thermal system, five-minute priming, and nine biometric sensors per side (Pod 5 had one per side). That article says sleep stages, heart rate, HRV, and breathing rate feed Autopilot, which adjusts temperature through the night. Solo sizes cover Twin, Twin XL, or one side of a Queen, King, or Cali King. The how-it-works page says Pod 6 Solo sizes are not compatible with the Base or Blanket add-ons; standard Pod 6 sizes are.

Hardware on the US product page we checked (13 October 2026) is not one price. Page data lists Solo sizes at $1,999 (Twin, Twin XL, Solo Queen, Solo King, Solo Cali King). Dual-zone covers list Full $2,699, Queen $2,899, King $2,999, and Cali King $2,999. The page’s default Queen configuration shows Pod 6 Standard $2,899 plus Autopilot Enhanced, for a displayed total of $3,198. That total includes the Enhanced plan at $25/month, $299 billed annually. Add-ons (Base, Blanket, Pillow Cover) are extra. We are not quoting a single “Pod costs X” number beyond those public figures.

Autopilot is the membership that runs the Pod. The same page lists three US plans:

  • Standard: $17/month, $199 billed annually. Extended warranty on the comparison table: 2-year.
  • Enhanced: $25/month, $299 billed annually. Extended warranty: 5-year.
  • Elite: $33/month, $399 billed annually. Extended warranty: 5-year. Health Check, cardiovascular monitoring, and respiratory monitoring are marked included here and not included on Standard or Enhanced.

All three tiers are marked included for dynamic temperature, vibration and thermal alarm, sleep and health tracking, snore detection and mitigation, complimentary maintenance inserts, and aging rates and trends. The page also lists pregnancy support, jet lag support, postpartum support, performance windows, hot flash mitigation, soundscapes, and timed nap sessions as additional Autopilot features. The FAQ copy on that page says Autopilot is required for the first 12 months (cancel any time after), covers two users per Pod, and comes in annual plans billed once yearly. One partner with Autopilot can add the other for free. The warranty page says every Pod includes a standard 2-year limited warranty, that a 5-year warranty is available with an active Autopilot Enhanced or Elite membership, and that an active membership is required during the coverage period for both the standard and extended warranties. Pod 6 is named in that 2-year list.

Autopilot also sells a longevity readout, and it is not Nuvo’s daily 21-biomarker score. The Autopilot page says members receive a Biological Age every week from the Pod’s nightly tracking plus integrated health and fitness data. Eight Sleep’s 3 September 2026 Biological Age article describes two numbers that update every seven days: Biological Age, and Speed of Aging (1.0x means aging in step with the calendar). The Pod side is contactless ballistocardiography: resting heart rate, HRV, breathing rate, and sleep structure. Apple Health, if you connect it, adds daytime steps and exercise minutes. HealthEx, for eligible US beta members, can add clinical records such as glucose and cholesterol. The feature is for members with an active membership and a Pod 4 or later, on the latest Eight Sleep app for iOS or Android. Eight Sleep says it was developed with Bryan Johnson. The same article says the Pod is not a medical device and Biological Age is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. For what “pace of aging” means as a concept, see pace of aging.

Health Check is the Elite extra. The Autopilot page says it flags breathing or heartbeat disturbances and highlights deviations from your own trends in resting heart rate, HRV, and breath rate. Eight Sleep’s Health Check article describes the same report and prices Elite at $33/month or $399 billed annually, which matches the Autopilot page we checked. It is an in-app monitoring layer on the Pod, not a lab panel and not Nuvo’s daily clock.

Snore handling is split across hardware. The Autopilot page says the Cover detects snoring from vibration and, with the Base add-on, lifts the head to reduce snoring by up to 45% — that percentage is Eight Sleep’s claim. The Base, Blanket, and Pillow Cover are separate products. Do not fold their prices into the Cover total above.

The Eight Sleep app (Eight Sleep, Inc., id 1086913845) is free to download. The US listing we checked on 13 October 2026 was version 7.60.1 (released 6 October 2026), iOS 17 or later, and about 4.76 from 17,548 ratings. The listing describes sleep stages, time slept, heart rate, HRV, snoring, temperature, elevation, and two sleep profiles per Pod. The product page separately shows 4.5 from 30,215 reviews on Eight Sleep’s own site. Those are two different counts. We cite both. We do not publish a schema.org rating object on this page. You need an Eight Sleep account and, for the first year, Autopilot.

Nuvo: a daily 21-biomarker score

Nuvo Longevity (App Store: Nuvo: Longevity Coach, id 6762535065) is an iPhone and Apple Watch app. It calculates a daily biological age from 21 biomarkers: Apple Health / HealthKit data from Apple Watch, Oura, or Garmin, plus optional lab PDF upload so results you already paid for sit in the same score.

Coaching runs as on-device private AI (Nuvo Intelligence). There is no account. Apple’s privacy nutrition label for Nuvo is Data Not Collected. Price is $4.99/month or $24.99/year after a 7-day trial — $24.99/year is $2.08/month billed annually. Nuvo does not cool a bed, sell a Hub, or run on Android.

Nuvo is not Eight Sleep’s temperature control, sleep stages, weekly Biological Age, Speed of Aging, or Elite Health Check. It does not replace a mattress cover. If the job is “make the bed colder or warmer and track the night without a watch,” that is Eight Sleep. If the job is “one daily biological age from 21 biomarkers, including optional labs, privately, on the phone you already carry,” that is Nuvo. Download app. For the wider field, see our 2026 biological age app comparison. For a ring that also does overnight sleep, see Nuvo vs Oura. For Bryan Johnson’s protocol stacks rather than Eight Sleep’s weekly Pod age, see Nuvo vs Blueprint. For a 160+ lab membership rather than a bed, see Nuvo vs Function Health.

Comparison table

Eight Sleep Pod + Autopilot Nuvo Longevity
What you buy Pod 6 Cover and Hub on your existing mattress. US page data on 13 Oct 2026: Solo sizes $1,999; dual-zone Full $2,699, Queen $2,899, King and Cali King $2,999. Autopilot is required for the first 12 months: Standard $199/year, Enhanced $299/year, or Elite $399/year (cards also show $17, $25, and $33 per month next to annual billing). App is free, iOS and Android. Account required. iPhone + Apple Watch app. No bed hardware. $4.99/month or $24.99/year ($2.08/month billed annually) after a 7-day trial.
Core job Cool and heat each side (55°F to 110°F on the product page), with sleep stages, heart rate, HRV, breathing rate, vibration and thermal alarms, and optional Base elevation. Weekly Biological Age and Speed of Aging for Pod 4+ members. Elite adds Health Check. One daily biological age from 21 biomarkers on iPhone and Apple Watch.
Labs HealthEx, for eligible US beta members, can pull clinical records such as glucose and cholesterol into the weekly Biological Age. That is an opt-in records connection, not a lab kit Nuvo sells and not a 21-biomarker daily score. Optional lab PDF into the same daily 21-biomarker score. Not a lab membership and not a medical-records integration.
HealthKit / stacking Eight Sleep’s Biological Age article treats Apple Health as an input: steps and exercise minutes that the Pod cannot see. If the Eight Sleep app also writes a night into Apple Health on your phone, Nuvo can read those samples. We are not claiming every Pod metric (temperature, Health Check, in-app HRV) lands in HealthKit. HealthKit; Apple Watch, Oura, or Garmin via Apple Health. Built to ingest wearable data you already collect, plus an optional lab PDF.
Privacy / account Eight Sleep account and Autopilot membership. Cloud app. Biological Age and Health Check live in that account. No account. On-device private AI (Nuvo Intelligence). Apple privacy label: Data Not Collected. Data is not sent to Nuvo servers and is not sold. See on-device AI and privacy.
Who it’s for People who want the bed itself to cool, heat, and track sleep, and who will pay for a Pod plus a required first-year Autopilot plan. People who want one daily 21-biomarker biological age on the iPhone they already own, optional labs they already paid for, no account, at $24.99/year.
Ratings US App Store lookup on 13 October 2026: about 4.76 from 17,548 ratings for “Eight Sleep.” The product page the same day showed 4.5 from 30,215 reviews. Different corpora. We do not publish a schema.org rating object on this page. Honestly thin: 5.0 from 4 US ratings on the same day’s iTunes lookup. Do not treat that as a large review corpus.

Where Eight Sleep wins

Eight Sleep wins if the job is the bed. Nuvo cannot drop the temperature of a mattress, run a dual-zone night for two people, or wake one side with a vibration alarm. The Pod 6 product page is built around that: a Cover on any mattress, each side from 55°F to 110°F, a Hub beside or under the bed. If hot sleep, hot flashes, or a partner who wants a different temperature is why you are shopping, buy the Pod.

Eight Sleep also wins on contactless overnight sensing. You do not strap on a watch. The Pod 6 article says nine sensors per side separate two sleepers, and the Biological Age article describes ballistocardiography for heart rate, HRV, breathing, and sleep structure. Nuvo does not claim to beat that for in-bed staging. If you take an Apple Watch off at night and you do not own another HealthKit sleep source, the Pod is the device that still sees the night.

The weekly Biological Age is a real feature for people who already bought the hardware. It updates every seven days, shows a Speed of Aging multiplier, and can take Apple Health plus optional HealthEx records. Elite Health Check adds disturbance flags Eight Sleep describes as breathing and heartbeat outliers. Nuvo’s daily 21-biomarker age is a different clock. Do not treat Eight Sleep’s weekly number as Nuvo, and do not treat Nuvo as a bed.

Scale is not close. Eight Sleep’s US listing had on the order of 17,548 ratings when we looked it up, and the product page showed 30,215 reviews. Nuvo’s App Store presence is early: 4 ratings. That gap is real. We are not going to inflate four ratings into social proof, and we do not publish a schema.org rating object for Nuvo.

Where Nuvo wins

Nuvo wins on the daily biological-age job. Eight Sleep’s headline product is temperature and sleep. Its Biological Age is weekly, membership-gated, and built from nightly Pod signals plus whatever you connect. Nuvo recalculates a daily biological age from 21 biomarkers so sleep, HRV, training, and optional labs can sit in one number on the phone. Calendar age versus that kind of score is covered in biological age vs chronological age.

Nuvo wins on price if you already own an iPhone and Apple Watch and you do not need the bed changed. $24.99/year versus a $1,999 Solo Pod plus at least $199 of Autopilot — or the $2,899 Queen plus $299 Enhanced plan the product page totals at $3,198 — is not a like-for-like discount. It is a category difference. If you do not want a Hub, water, and a 12-month membership, Nuvo does not require them.

Privacy is structural. Eight Sleep is an account and membership product; the warranty page ties coverage to an active membership. Nuvo requires no account and uses the Apple privacy label Data Not Collected. If you will not put a daily age score in another cloud membership, Nuvo is the one built for that constraint. More on that architecture: health app privacy and on-device AI.

Labs in Nuvo are optional PDFs in the same 21-biomarker score, including work you already paid a clinician or a lab membership for. Eight Sleep’s HealthEx path is a US beta records connection into its weekly age. It does not become Nuvo’s daily clock unless you also add those labs in Nuvo.

Can you use both?

Yes. That is the honest answer for readers who already want the bed. Sleep on the Pod for temperature, staging, and Eight Sleep’s weekly Biological Age. Keep an Apple Watch on for the day, and let Nuvo turn HealthKit plus an optional lab PDF into a daily 21-biomarker age. They do not cancel each other. One is a bed-cooling and sleep system. The other is a daily age readout.

If the only job is “cool the bed and track the night,” stop at Eight Sleep. If the only job is “daily biological age from 21 biomarkers, privately, on iPhone,” stop at Nuvo. If you are the buyer who wants both the mattress climate and a daily age number, stacking is the usual move. Download app.

Habits that actually move aging markers — sleep, aerobic fitness, glucose, inflammation — are covered in How to reduce biological age. This page is only about which product to buy for which job.

Pricing math without invented discounts

Eight Sleep US figures checked 13 October 2026. Hardware from the Pod 6 product-page data: $1,999 for every Solo size listed, $2,699 Full dual-zone, $2,899 Queen dual-zone, $2,999 King and Cali King dual-zone. Autopilot, required for the first 12 months and billed annually: $199 Standard, $299 Enhanced, or $399 Elite. The product page’s own Queen example adds $2,899 and Enhanced Autopilot and prints $3,198. A Solo at $1,999 plus Standard Autopilot at $199 is $2,198 in year one if you take the lowest plan the Autopilot page lists. Year two is another annual Autopilot charge if you keep the membership. The warranty page says coverage, including the 2-year standard warranty, requires an active membership, so canceling after month 12 can affect the warranty even though the FAQ says you can cancel after the first year. Base, Blanket, and Pillow Cover are not in those totals. Elite is the plan that includes Health Check.

Nuvo: $4.99/month or $24.99/year ($2.08/month billed annually) after a 7-day trial. No Pod and no Autopilot plan is bundled.

Those dollars buy different things. Say so. Many readers in this category will spend the Pod money because they want the bed. The remaining question is whether they also want a daily 21-biomarker biological age on the iPhone. That is the Nuvo add, not a rip-and-replace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I pick Nuvo or Eight Sleep?
Pick Eight Sleep if you want a Pod cover and Hub that cools and heats the bed, plus Autopilot for sleep staging, temperature, and a weekly Biological Age. On 13 October 2026 the US product page listed Solo Pods at $1,999 and a Queen dual-zone Pod at $2,899, with Autopilot at $199, $299, or $399 per year. Pick Nuvo if you want a daily biological age from 21 biomarkers on iPhone and Apple Watch, optional lab PDF in that same score, on-device AI, no account, and $24.99/year after a 7-day trial. If you want the bed and the daily age number, use both.

Does Eight Sleep calculate a daily biological age like Nuvo?
No. Eight Sleep’s Autopilot page and Biological Age article describe a Biological Age and a Speed of Aging that update every seven days, from nightly Pod signals plus optional Apple Health and HealthEx data, for members with a Pod 4 or later. That is not Nuvo’s daily 21-biomarker biological age, and it does not fuse an optional lab PDF into that same daily clock.

How much do the Eight Sleep Pod and Nuvo cost?
On the US Pod 6 page checked 13 October 2026, Solo sizes were $1,999 and dual-zone covers were $2,699 (Full), $2,899 (Queen), and $2,999 (King and Cali King). Autopilot, required for the first 12 months, was $199, $299, or $399 billed annually. The page’s Queen plus Enhanced example totaled $3,198. Nuvo is $4.99/month or $24.99/year ($2.08/month billed annually) after a 7-day trial, with no Pod required.

Is Autopilot required to use the Pod?
Eight Sleep’s Autopilot FAQ says Autopilot is required for the first 12 months, you can cancel any time after that, one plan covers two users, and plans are annual and billed once yearly. The warranty page also says an active membership is required during the warranty period.

What is Health Check, and which plan includes it?
Health Check is Eight Sleep’s Elite monitoring report. The Autopilot page marks it, plus cardiovascular and respiratory monitoring, as included on Elite and not included on Standard or Enhanced. Eight Sleep says it flags breathing or heartbeat disturbances and deviations in resting heart rate, HRV, and breath rate. It is not a diagnostic device and it is not Nuvo’s daily biological age.

Can I use Eight Sleep and Nuvo together?
Yes. Use the Pod for bed temperature, sleep staging, and Eight Sleep’s weekly Biological Age. Use Nuvo for a daily 21-biomarker biological age from HealthKit and an optional lab PDF. Eight Sleep’s own article describes Apple Health as an input to its weekly age. Nuvo reads HealthKit on iPhone. You do not have to pick only one product.

Does Nuvo require an account?
No. Nuvo uses on-device private AI and no account. Apple’s privacy label is Data Not Collected. Eight Sleep Autopilot is account-based.

How many biomarkers does Nuvo use?
21 longevity biomarkers. They combine HealthKit wearable inputs with optional labs such as HbA1c, fasting glucose, HDL, CRP, creatinine, and more. Eight Sleep’s weekly Biological Age is a Pod-and-membership score, not that 21-marker daily total.

Is this medical advice?
No. This comparison is educational and is not medical advice. Eight Sleep says the Pod is not a medical device and that Biological Age is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Nuvo does not replace care from a licensed clinician. Lab results and wearable scores should be reviewed with a qualified professional.
